Art Marketing and Social Networks for Artists - Adriana Braga

Innumerable living artists create compelling artwork but find their work is not selling for the simple reason it is not being seen. Without art marketing to create awareness, there is no interest, and consequently, no sales. Without a doubt Instagram  and social networks have become an important channel for promoting  artist's work. Today Instagram has become more popular with over a billion active users (approximately 13% of the global population). The Hiscoxx Report shows that 45% of art buyers consider social media the most important channel for meeting artists and 91% of galleries said they actively use social media to promote their gallery.

While artists are commenting on contemporary culture through its own resourceful means of expression, a concurrent shift from physical to digital venues is taking place for artist discovery. Therefore, Instagram and other social networks are also changing the way collectors buy artworks, as online purchases account for an increasing amount of transactions. And since a large portion of the market now lives online, it’s increasingly important for contemporary art galleries to successfully engage with collectors through digital means. On top of being a great way for artists, institutions and galleries to improve outreach and audience engagement, the effective use of social media is becoming an invaluable marketing tool to engage with new audiences and create new sales channels.

Heart Constellation- Baejjahn Dance Company

Heart Constellation is the adaption of the play « Fitness » by Jacques De Decker. It represents the encounter of two beings. This encounter symbolises a number of collisions where passion, struggle and other everyday life situations and existential situations are being staged.  This is why  Heart Constellation is very much in line with this year’s CLASH theme.

Initially, the play is the dramatic monologue of a woman driven by a double quest: physical and spiritual. During a bodybuilding session, she starts to remake the world (of the modern woman), to meditate on her body and her life, in a fiery and offbeat way. During this quest, the being reveals itself through various fractures – reflecting her fragility and vulnerability –  resulting from decisive events (such as the encounter with love and pregnancy) and existential stances (for example, power struggles, fighting, and falling). The scars, imbalances and existential wounds are sublimated by the reconciliation with oneself and the other, to become nests of light and cradles of unborn life. The parts of the body are the expression of inner life.

Art in the Wartime - Olena Kayinska

Art has become a mirror of Ukraine’s resistance, strength and courage. Art in the wartime reflects our losses and deepest sorrow, our hope for the future of our nation and land, our anger against the occupants, our desire for freedom.

Ukrainian art today is sharp, strong, intense and powerful. Artists put into their artworks their hearts, their blood, their souls, their fears and their hopes. However, it’s not always possible to deep dive into art creation and reflection processes, as the majority of Ukrainians are volunteering to support our Military Forces.

Today,we are going to hear the live stories of Ukrainian artists, who decided to stay in Ukraine and continue working.

They are: Olena Kayinska, Marta Trotsiuk, Lida Feday, Yuliya Kyrychenko, Oleksandra Malyshko, Dariya Bedernichek, Polina Nevenchannaya, Marishka Kovaleva, Yana Hudzan, Zoza Hrebenyukova-Kobenko, Mykhaylo Skop, Katya Yegorova, Liudmyla Nychai, Mariana Kosyka, Oleksandr Nikityuk, Marta Prytula, Roksolana Dudka, Vartan Markarian, Taras Keb, Nadiya Shepitchak & Yaroslav Leonets.

Clausura - Lacuna Festivals

Join the Lacuna Festival Team for an online gathering like no other - an end of festival event where we can share a drink, some food and reflect on the 2022 festivals.

Maybe you'd like to join us in having a digital dinner. Or perhaps it'll be lunch? Or breakfast? If it's none of those it'll definitely be 'hora de la merienda' or snack time in English! We have found a small selection of simple Canarian recipes for you to try out at home and bring them to the table on the night (if you fancy!)

Try Papas Arrugadas con Mojos our super popular recipes from last year's digital dinner. They are vegan with only few ingredients and super tasty so we know exactly why they are a hit. This year we'd also like to add Almogrote into the mix - an intensely flavoured cheese spread and Bienmesabe - a traditional dessert that translates as 'tastes good to me'

If cooking doesn't do it for you, feel free to grab a drink or simply just pull up a pew and enjoy coming together with creatives from around the world in this relaxed and informal setting.
